2. Software control method
2.1 Wiznet W5500-EVB-Pico Firmware Flashing
Here, the focus of our explanation is not on the use of the W5500 chip but on communication based on respective network protocols. In practical applications, we will use the MicroPython version of the Ethernet communication firmware provided by Wiznet for the Raspberry Pi Pico, which supports more extensive network communication functions and runs faster.
We download the MicroPython firmware (version v1.23.0) of Wiznet W5500-EVB-Pico from the following link:

Wiznet W5500-EVB-Pico is an Ethernet evaluation board for Raspberry Pi Pico, featuring an on-board Wiznet W5500 Ethernet controller chip. The firmware supports the standard TCP/IP protocol stack, including TCP, UDP, DHCP, DNS, etc., and provides easy-to-use APIs for convenient upper-level application development. We follow the firmware flashing steps described earlier: hold down the BOOTSEL button, connect to a computer via a USB cable, and drag the firmware to the virtual USB drive to complete the flashing process.
It should be noted that when using this firmware for Ethernet communication, GPIO16, GPIO17, GPIO18, GPIO19, GPIO20, and GPIO21 pins cannot be used, as these pins are used by default to connect to the W5500 Ethernet chip:
